Traveling through the area for afternoon meeting and made time to play 9 or 18hole this morning. The place was wide open so for $20.00 18/cart I was all set to play this Bruce Matthews design located just off I-96.
The scorecard has 2,930yd/2,831yd for this Par 36/35 mostly open but rolling layout. Good tee boxes (Red & White) with scattered tree lined fairways (well placed in tee landing areas) leading to the typical smaller soft greens. (7-9 roll) Fairway, rough and greens were cut very well with no burn areas. If you don't like sand traps, this is your course.....NONE.
The first two holes 451yd/Par 5 with pond in front of the green and 195yd/Par 3 are a little challenging to start but its all downhill from there. The 360yd and under Par 4's make the shorter 2nd shots an breath of fresh air. The rolling valley going through the course makes for some uneven lies and distance adjustments but nothing too severe. Lots of slight doglegs to make short yardages more challenging but missing greens offered no penalties for easy....up and downs. I did enjoy getting done under 3 hours and shooting 38/37 w/28putts and no three (3) putts.
This is a nice "Feel Good" course that you can relax on and post a nice score.....if you stay in the fairway. (First time you've heard that....Right)
